In-Flight Magazine Design

ManilaSkies and Sidetrip were in-flight and travel titles — magazines with a captive reader, a fixed page count, and an advertiser mix that changed every issue.

Full editorial design: the grid and typographic system, feature layouts, section furniture, cover treatments, and the advertising pages that had to sit alongside the editorial without collapsing it.

In-flight is a specific reading condition — poor light, cramped seat, interrupted attention. The grid has to survive being read badly, which is a better test than most.
